Details: Just for the heck of it I tried to buy the new-comers kit on Alemia since it seems to be extraordinarily hard to find polymer, if it exists on Alemia. I mostly wanted the soul gun, but would also have loved the Iguanadon.
Anyhow, it said I successfully bought it, but nothing showed up in my inventory and nothing appeared on the ground in front of me.
Don't know if it actually took whatever points they cost (didn't even look to see what it cost). But when it said I successfully purchased it, I kind of expected something to happen.
